Showing off in Somerset

2019 saw the end of the alpaca show at the Royal Bath & West and the very first alpaca show at the Somerset Show organised by the South West Alpaca Group at the end of September. The annual show moved after an 18 year association with the Royal Bath & West

The Show Organiser was Di Davies who is clearly not one to give up as this was the 25th show she has organised, ably assisted by the Chief Steward Tim Hey and members of SWAG. Rob Bettinson judged the halter show, Jay Holland the fleece show and Jean Field the craft show.

Day 1 took place in glorious sunshine with the nearby stand with a pizza oven running out of dough by four o’clock closely followed by the cake and coffee van as visitors flocked to see the alpacas. Day 2 was a classic autumn show day, it rained a lot which meant that showing didn’t start until late morning with a couple of classes moved into the marquee.
